The 2017 Volvo S90 was unveiled Wednesday near the headquarters of the manufacturer in Gothenburg, Sweden, offering a luxurious look, three new engine options and the latest Volvo safety technology.
Built on the new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA for short), which is also the basis of the XC90, the S90 2017 new design is strongly influenced by the Concept Coupe. LED headlights “Thor’s Hammer” concept and the XC90 give a familiar look on the front, while the profile of the S90 gets a clean and elegant look with a luxurious proportion shaft and board – SPA Volvo hidden very well the roots of its front wheel. On the back, the lights of the Concept Coupe move with little change to the S90 production, while at the gate of the trunk can see the Volvo name and what is the sedan engine under the hood.
2017 Volvo S90 Engine, Horsepower
Speaking of engines, customers in the United States will have three different options when the four-cylinder 2017 Volvo S90 reaches our shores. The T5 turbo 2.0-liter engine found in the S60 sedan, the 2.0 liter supercharged and turbocharged XC90 comes in the petrol version T6 and T8 plug-in hybrid. European customers will surely get diesel (and a V90 wagon). The powers have not been announced, but the T5 produces 240 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque in the S60, while the T6 and T8 produce 316 hp and 295 pound-feet of torque and 400 hp and 472 pound-feet of torque , respectively. It is expected that eight-speed automatic transmission is standard across all models. All-wheel drive will also be available.
2017 Volvo S90 Interior
Inside, the elegant and luxurious interior of the XC90 is moved with small but noticeable changes. The interior features a striking blend of high quality leather and beautiful wood and metal finishes. The infotainment system for Volvo Sensus removes many of the buttons we could find on the center console, helping to simplify and eliminate clutter the interior. Because the goal of Volvo to reduce injuries and deaths remove their vehicles from 2020 is fast approaching, we can guess that the new Volvo S90 will have most, if not all security technologies that are semi-autonomous management in XC90.
The price of Volvo S90 2017 has not yet been announced, but because it replaces the S80 and the latter is available from about $ 44.500 US, including shipping charges, we can say that will be located around $ 46.500 for the base model S90 T5.
